Chicken Shawarma with Homemade Tzatziki 🥙 This is one of my favorite takeout meals. It’s gotten so expensive lately, so I started making it at home for a fraction of the cost. The flavor is even better and it makes plenty for the whole family. Follow to eat better and spend less. Chicken Shawarma • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs • 3 tbsp olive oil • 2 tbsp tomato paste • ⅓ cup Greek yogurt • Juice of 1 lemon • 2 roasted garlic heads (squeezed in after baking) • 2 tsp cumin • 2 tsp smoked paprika • 1½ tsp ground coriander • 1 tsp turmeric • 1 tsp salt • ½ tsp pepper • ¼ tsp cayenne 1. Slice chicken thighs into thin strips and add to a large bowl. 2. Add olive oil, tomato paste, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and all the spices. Mix until evenly coated. 3. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. 4. Cut the tops off two garlic heads, drizzle with olive oil and salt, wrap in foil, and place in a baking dish with the chicken. 5. Bake at 425°F for 25 minutes until the chicken is golden and slightly charred. 6. Squeeze the roasted garlic into the chicken and toss before serving. Homemade Tzatziki Sauce • 1 cup Greek yogurt • ½ cucumber, grated and squeezed dry • 2 tbsp mayonnaise • 1 tbsp olive oil • 1 tbsp lemon juice • 1 tbsp dill • ½ tsp salt & pepper 1. Mix everything in a bowl until smooth. 2. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Salad Filling • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, quartered • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced • ½ cup cucumber, diced • ¼ cup parsley, chopped • ½ tsp dill • Juice of ½ lemon • 1 tsp olive oil • 1 tsp salt • ½ tsp pepper 1. Toss everything together and let sit for 10 minutes in the fridge so the flavors come together. Assembly Warm pita or naan, spread tzatziki, add sliced chicken, spoon over the salad, drizzle more sauce, and wrap it up. #shawarma #chickenshawarma #recipes #easydinnerideas
